Where every answer comes from

Each tool reads small data files published with this site. They were built on October 7, 2026 from the sources below, and each answer repeats the dates that apply to it.

Production records (lease check)

Well records
Our copy of Enverus well records, compiled from operator reports to the Railroad Commission of Texas. Updated through September 30, 2026; newest production month July 2026. One row per well with production reported since January 2000.
Lease-level records (second source)
Our copy of Enverus production headers, one row per reporting lease or gas well, saved June 30, 2026, newest production month April 2026. Used to check each answer.
Railroad Commission map (third source)
The Commission's public GIS well layer, read October 7, 2026: the map symbol of each well.

How we chose the counties

A county is offered when (1) at least 95 percent of the wells the Commission's map shows as producing (oil, gas, or oil and gas well symbols) are in our well records, and (2) for at least 99 percent of the leases and gas wells in the older lease-level copy, that copy's last month is not later than the newest month of its wells. A later month in the older copy would be a contradiction; an earlier one is expected when a well was reworked or moved to a new lease.

Percentages are rounded down, so a county with even one contradiction never shows 100.0.

Survey abstracts (abstract finder)

305,840 abstracts in 254 counties, drawn August 31, 2026 by Our Landmen LLC from the Railroad Commission's survey map layer, with town names from the Census Bureau's 2025 TIGER/Line files. For 246 counties the map holds the same number of abstracts as the Commission survey records it was drawn from; the other 8 (Anderson, Cherokee, Freestone, Houston, Leon, Madison, Rains and Robertson) were drawn from an earlier copy of the same layer that has no separate record count to compare. In 6 counties the layer covers less than 85 percent of the land (Andrews (69.6 percent), Aransas (75.9 percent), Crockett (79.4 percent), Hudspeth (75.5 percent), Reagan (71.2 percent), Ward (84.5 percent)); for 9 counties that share was not measured (Anderson, Cherokee, Freestone, Houston, Leon, Limestone, Madison, Rains and Robertson). In 7 counties some abstract numbers have an unreadable digit, shown with a "?": Anderson (26), Cherokee (37), Freestone (17), Houston (50), Madison (18), Rains (12) and Robertson (12).

Want help reading it?

Landman Help works for owners: it reads the record with you, explains what it means for your lease, deed or check, and tells you what to ask the operator or payor.

Only if you want to sell

If you are thinking about selling, Mineral Land is where to ask for an offer. It is Our Landmen LLC buying for its own account: the buyer across the table, not your representative. Nothing here sends your search there, and asking for help reading a record is not a request to sell.
